The Boys La Serna Cross Country team advanced to CIF Finals and will compete this Saturday for a chance to qualify for the state championship. La Serna has never qualified a team to the state meet before. The team will need to finish in the top seven in their division 1 heat to advance to the state meet.

Runner Ian Gonzalez, a junior, credited coaches Joe Orr, Spencer Lyle, and Adam Arduno for the team’s success. “We couldn’t be on the road to CIF without them,” Gonzalez said. “Since May of last year, each of them spoke as if they were creating a portrait of our future season. They handed us the paintbrushes and we got to work. It has been in the making since, and we are adding its finishing touches.”

Jesse Montez – 14:59
