Last week La Serna Cross Country placed second in the CIF division-1 semi finals. On November 17, the boys will be running in the finals for CIF to qualify for state level as well. The Lancers are going to be competing in Fontana on November 17 with high hopes to travel to Woodward next week for the state race.

Team captain Andrew Hernandez said, “I’m happy to make it to finals. I think prelims showed that we’re able to execute a race strategy well and that we’re ready for finals because we excecuted the game plan and used our strategy. The reason we made it so far was talent and Coach Orr.”

The Lancers have had a highly successful season, earning second in the Del Rio League Division I competing against rival school Cal High, despite missing one of its top runners who was unable to race due to illness. However, La Serna’s Andrew Hernandez took league title as a solo runner, becoming the single league champion for the Del Rio League.

Update from Finals: Cal made it to State but La Serna did not by less than 20 points.
