Last Friday night under the lights proved once again that Lancer football comes to play. Although the rivalry stands strong between La Serna and Cal, the Lancers dominated the Condors in every aspect of the game. The Lancers were successful on 70 percent of their drives. Starting quarterback Andrew Henriquez had two passing touchdowns and one rushing. La Serna’s future quarterback, Dylan Long, also passed for a pair of 6’s, himself. Also, running back, kicker and linebacker, Chandler McCaffer earned himself a 90 yard rushing touchdown in the second quarter, as well as a field goal in the third. As for the Condors, they scored on only one of their nine drives.

La Serna’s first drive stalled as they failed to convert on 4th & 5. However, it would not determine how the game would play out. The Lancers’ offense would end up scoring two first quarter touchdowns, with the defense holding Cal to zero.

The Lancers would turn first quarter momentum into 2nd quarter dominance. The success was distributed quite equally on both sides of the ball. The defense completely stuffed the Condors, which lead to the offense scoring touchdowns on all four of their drives. The Lancers would end the half with a kneel down and a 42-0 lead.

The second half of the game was a quite competitive interim of defensive play. Cal High’s defense was finally able to hold La Serna to a field goal in the third quarter. However, the Condors offensive struggles would continue, and the quarter would end with a 45-0 Lancer lead.

To wrap up a completely one-sided game, the Condors would score their first and only touchdown in the contest, with 6:24 remaining in the game. Also, the Condors defense would finally force the Lancers to punt for the first time all game, late in the fourth quarter.

Final – Lancers win 45-7 and improve to 8-0.
